    Installation VENTING REQUIREMENTS • INSTALLVENTATCLEARANCESSPECIFIEDBYTHEVENTMANUFACTURER. • DONOTCONNECTTHEPELLETVENTTOAVENTSERVINGANYOTHERAPPLIANCEORSTOVE. • DONOTINSTALLAFLUEDAMPERINTHEEXHAUSTVENTINGSYSTEMOFTHISUNIT. Thefollowinginstallationguidelinesmustbefollowedtoensureconformitywithboththesafetylistingofthisstove andtolocalbuildingcodes.Donotusemakeshiftmethodsorcompromiseintheinstallation. IMPORTANT!Thisunitisequippedwithanegativedraftsystemthatpullsairthroughtheburnpotandpushes theexhaustoutofthedwelling.Ifthisunitisconnectedtoafluesystemotherthanthewayexplainedinthis manual,itwillnotfunctionproperly. MAXIMUM VENTING DISTANCE InstallationMUSTincludeatleast3-feetofverticalpipeoutsidethehome.Thiswillcreatesomenaturaldraftto reducethepossibilityofsmokeorodorduringapplianceshutdownandkeepexhaustfromcausinganuisance orhazardbyexposingpeopleorshrubstohightemperatures.Themaximumrecommendverticalventingheight is12-feetfor3-inchtype“PL”vent.Totallengthofhorizontalventmustnotexceed4-feet.Thiscouldcauseback pressure.Usenomorethan180degreesofelbows(two90-degreeelbows,ortwo45-degreeandone90-degree elbow,etc.)tomaintainadequatedraft. IMPORTANCE OF PROPER DRAFT Draft is the force which moves air from the appliance up through the chimney. The amount of draft in your chimneydependsonthelengthofthechimney,localgeography,nearbyobstructionsandotherfactors.Too muchdraftmaycauseexcessivetemperaturesintheappliance.Inadequatedraftmaycausebackpuffinginto theroomand‘plugging’ofthechimney.

    Installation THROUGH THE WALL INSTALLATION (RECOMMENDED INSTALLATION) CanadianinstallationsmustconformtoCAN/CSA-B365. Toventtheunitthroughthewall,connectthepipeadapter totheexhaustmotoradapter.Iftheexhaustadapterisat least18in.(457mm)abovegroundlevel,astraightsection ofpelletventpipecanbeusedthroughthewall. Your heater dealer should be able to provide you with a kit that will handle most of this installation, which will includeawallthimblethatwillallowtheproperclearance through a combustible wall. Once outside the structure, a 3 in.(76mm) clearance should be maintained from the outsidewallandacleanoutteeshouldbeplacedonthe pipe with a 90-degree turn away from the house. At this...

    Installation OUTSIDE AIR SUPPLY (OPTIONAL, UNLESS INSTALLING IN A MOBILE HOME) Dependingonyourlocationandhomeconstruction,outsideairmaybenecessaryforoptimalperformance. Metalpipe(solidorflexible)mustbeusedfortheoutsideairinstallation.PVCpipeisNOTapprovedandshould NEVERbeused. Awindshieldovertheterminationoftheoutsideairpipeora90-degreeelboworbendawayfromtheprevailing windsMUSTbeusedwhenanoutsideairpipeisinstalledthroughthesideofabuilding.Theoutsideairtermination MUSTbeatleast1ft(0.305m)awayfromtheexhaustsystemtermination. The outside air pipe on your heater is 2” (50.8mm) OD. The outside air connecting pipe must be at least 2” (50.8mm)ID.TheoutsideairconnectionusedMUSTNOTrestricttheamountofairavailabletoyourheater.The outsideairconnectingpipemustbeasshortandfreeofbendsaspossible,anditmustfitover,notinside,the outsideairconnectiontotheheater.

    Control Panel Overview TurningtheheaterON/OFF,aswellasadjustmentsforthefuelfeedrateandroomfanspeedareperformed bypressingtheappropriatebutton(s)onthecontrolpanelwhichislocatedonthelowerleft-handsideofyour heater. • ON/OFF Pressingthe“ON”buttononthecontrolpanelwillbeginthestart-upsequencefortheheater.Fuelwillbeginto feedthroughtheaugerfeedsystemthenigniteafterapproximately5minutes. Pressingthe“OFF”buttononthecontrolpanelwillcausetheheatertoenteritsshut-downsequence.Thefuel feedsystemwillstoppullingfuelfromthehopperand,oncethefiregoesoutandtheheatercoolsdown,the fanswillstoprunning. • HEATRANGE Pressingthe“HeatRange”arrows,upordown,willadjusttheamountoffuelbeingdeliveredtotheburnpot. • DRAFTFAN Thedraftfan(exhaust)willcomeonassoonasthe“ON”buttonispressed.Thefanwillautomaticallyadjustit* speedinaccordancetotheheatrangesetting.However,thisspeedcanbemanuallyoperatedbypressingthe “DraftFan”arrowsupordown.“DraftFan”whenpressed,thedisplaywillshow“Df-A”,whichisautomatic.Press thearrowsagaintoadjustfanspeed.Whentheheaterisinthemanualmode,theoptionalthermostatwillnot properlycontroltheunit.WhenadjustingtheDraftFansetting,tryonly1settingaboveorbelowtheheatsetting. Itisbettertoleavethestoveintheautomaticmode. • ROOMFAN The room fan will come on once the unit has reached operating temperature.     Operation UNIT PREPARATION After carefully unpacking and reading the instructions for installing your stove, you will need to perform the followingsteps: • Attachtheincludedspringhandletothedoorhandlebyscrewingitoninarespectivelocation. • Attachtheelectricalcordtothebackofthestovefirst;thenplugitintoa110-voltoutlet(anoutletsurge protectorishighlyrecommended). PERFORMING AN INITIAL TEST Thistestisusedatthefactorywherethestovesareassembledtotestthefunctionalityofthecontrolandthestove beforetheunitisshipped.Toperformthistest,pressandholdtheOFFandAUGERDELAYbuttonssimultaneously for3seconds.Toadvancethroughthetest,pressanykeyunlessotherwisenotedintheteststep. 1. ExhaustFanOutputTest–Thedisplaywillshow“drft”.Theexhaustfanisturnedonfullthenreducedtoalevel justabovethetypicalminimumpressureswitchsetting.TheONLEDindicateswhetherthepressuresensor isdetected.Ifthepressureswitchisnotdetected,thefanrampstofullonfortwosecondsthenreturnsto thepreviouslyestablishedlevelifthepressureswitchcloses.IftheDraftFanFuseisnotblownandthefuse detectioncircuitisfunctioning,theDraftFanLEDwillbelitandtheotherthreetoprowLEDswillbeoff. 2. RoomFanOutputTest-Thedisplaywillshow“rfan”.Theroomfanisturnedonfull.IftheRoomFanFuseisnot blownandthefusedetectioncircuitisfunctioning,theRoomFanLEDwillbelitandtheotherthreetoprow LEDswillbeoff.

    Operation START-UP PROCEDURE • DONOTUSECHEMICALSORFLUIDSTOSTARTTHEFIRE-Neverusegasoline,gasoline-typelanternfuel, kerosene,charcoallighterfluid,orsimilarliquidstostartor“freshenup”afireinthisstove.Keepallsuch liquidswellawayfromthestovewhileitisinuse. • HOTWHILEINOPERATION.KEEPCHILDREN,CLOTHINGANDFURNITUREAWAY.CONTACTMAYCAUSESKINS BURNS. • DONOTUSEGRATESORELEVATETHEFIRE.BUILDFIREDIRECTLYONHEARTH. • DONOTOVERFIRE-IFHEATERORCHIMNEYCONNECTORGLOWS,YOUAREOVERFIRING. ThisheaterisdesignedtoburnonlyPFIPremiumgradepellets. DONOTBURN: 1. Garbage; 10. Saltwaterdriftwoodorotherpreviouslysaltwater 2. Lawnclippingsoryardwaste; saturatedmaterials; 3.     Operation FirstFire:Adjustthe“HeatRange”and“BlowerSpeed”toa“3”settingandallowthestovetooperateinthis mannerforapproximatelythree(3)hours(ormoreifnecessary),allowingthestoveto“cureout”asthepaintand oilsfromthemanufacturingprocessburnoff.Werecommendthatyouopendoorsandwindowsinyourhome duringthisprocess.Adjustsettingtodesiredsetting. WARNING:Nevershutdownthisunitbyunpluggingitfromthepowersource. SHUT DOWN PROCEDURE Pressthe“OFF”buttononthecontrolpadtoputthestoveinshutdownmode.Atthistime,theredlightabove the pad will illuminate. Once this is done, the auger will stop feeding pellets, but the distribution blower and exhaust blower will continue to operate. When the internal temperature of the unit drops below the factory presettemperature,thedistributionblowerandexhaustblowerwillceasetooperate.Theredlightwillthenshut offandtheunitwillbecompletelyshutdown.

    Maintenance • Failuretocleanandmaintainthisunitasindicatedcanresultinpoorperformanceandsafetyhazards. • Unplugyourstove’selectricalcordpriortoremovingthebackpaneloropeningtheexhaustsystemforany inspection,cleaning,ormaintenancework. • Neverperformanyinspections,cleaning,ormaintenanceonahotstove. • Donotoperatestovewithbrokenglass,leakageoffluegasmayresult. • WARNING:Thechimneyandchimneyconnectormustbekeptingoodconditionandclean. EXHAUST SYSTEM CreosoteFormation–Whenanywoodisburnedslowly,itproducestarandotherorganicvapors,whichcombine withexpelledmoisturetoformcreosote.Thecreosotevaporscondenseintherelativelycoolchimneyflueora newlystartedfireorfromaslow-burningfire.Asaresult,creosoteresidueaccumulatesonthefluelining.When ignited,thiscreosotemakesanextremelyhotfire,whichmaydamagethechimneyorevendestroythehouse. Despitetheirhighefficiency,pelletstovescanaccumulatecreosoteundercertainconditions. FlyAsh–Thisaccumulatesinthehorizontalportionofanexhaustrun.Thoughnon-combustible,itmayimpede thenormalexhaustflow.Itshouldthereforebeperiodicallyremoved. InspectionandRemoval–Thechimneyconnectorandchimneyshouldbeinspectedannuallyorpertonto determineifacreosoteorflyashbuild-uphasoccurred.Ifcreosotehasaccumulated,itshouldberemovedto reducetheriskofachimneyfire.Inspectthesystematthestoveconnectionandatthechimneytop.Cooler surfacestendtobuildcreosotedepositsquicker,soitisimportanttocheckthechimneyfromthetopaswellas fromthebottom.Thecreosoteshouldberemovedwithabrushspecificallydesignedforthetypeofchimney inuse.Aqualifiedchimneysweepcanperformthisservice.Itisalsorecommendedthatbeforeeachheating seasontheentiresystembeprofessionallyinspected,cleanedand,ifnecessary,repaired.Tocleanthechimney, disconnecttheventfromthestove. INTERIOR CHAMBERS Periodicallyremoveandcleantheburnpotandtheareainsidetheburnpothousing.Inparticularitisadvisable tocleanouttheholesintheburnpottoremoveanybuildupthatmaypreventairfrommovingthroughtheburn potfreely.Removethetwo(2)platesoneachsideoftheburnpothousingandcleanoutthatrearchamber. Ifavacuumisusedtocleanyourstove,wesuggestusingavacuumdesignedforashremoval.Someregular vacuumcleaner(i.e.shopvacs)mayleakashintotheroom. ASH DISPOSAL Disposal of ashes – Ashes should be placed in a steel container with a tight fitting lid and moved outdoors immediately.Theclosedcontainerofashesshouldbeplacedonanoncombustiblefloororontheground,well awayfromcombustiblematerials,pendingfinaldisposal.Iftheashesaredisposedofbyburialinsoilorotherwise locallydispersed,theyshouldberetainedintheclosedcontaineruntilallcindershavethoroughlycooled.Other...

DOOR AND GLASS GASKETS Inspectthemaindoorandglasswindowgasketsperiodically.Themaindoormayneedtoberemovedtohave frayed,broken,orcompactedgasketsreplacedbyyourauthorizeddealer.Theglassgaskethasagapatthe bottomfortheairwash.Thisunit’sdoorusesa5/8”diameterropegasket. BLOWER MOTORS Cleantheairholesonthemotorsofboththeexhaustanddistributionblowersannually.Removetheexhaust blowerfromtheexhaustductandcleanouttheinternalfanbladesaspartofyourfallstart-up.
