Good communicators tell great stories. And they know who to use the right tools. You probably already know this, but here's a reminder about how your channels work. This is critical to delivering the right message. This simple chart is not exhaustive, but a good rule of thumb when communicating with your colleagues, friends and family. Really the main thing to know this: If a communication is not landing - in other words - they're not getting you or you're not getting them- then it's time to bump up a channel. If your texts are missing the mark, move up to an email. If that's still causing friction, keep adding bandwidth to the channels until things clear up. Texts are not a conversation. I escaped the clutter of miscommunication three years ago. My secret sauce is simplicity in conveying ideas.I don't want to baffle people with jargon. I don't want to leave room for ambiguity. I don't want to flood inboxes with lengthy emails. I don't want to deliver monotonous presentations. Instead:I want to foster clarity in dialogues, ensure everyone is on the same page, make communication a two-way street, and transform complex ideas into digestible insights.Reconsidering what you genuinely want from communication can alter your approach.
